[Story] Things had stabilized for the moment, for Shark.
Sure, the whole situation with tournaments blocking him out was annoying-- no, it was aggravating, completely infuriating-- but the fact of the matter is, no one was giving any information, and more time spent on it was time not spent on dueling in general.
In the meantime, he'd been joining tournaments that were out of the main conglomeration of cities that'd formed from the Greater Domino Area, but the ones in Domino were fine, too... so long as they were sponsored by KaibaCorp or LDS, neither of whom had issue with him, apparently.
As a result, one store had actually become a regular on his rotation of tournaments, and he'd gotten to know the people at the register and manager pretty well.
So imagine his surprise when he went in shortly after the start of the New Year to sign up for the upcoming tournaments to:
"Uh... Sorry, Shark, but you've been barred from joining anymore."
Shark's knuckles went white from how hard he was clenching his hands, obviously incensed at the situation, but the familiarity with the young man at the register held off his rage for the moment, though he could only spit out a venomous "What," at the statement.
"Ugh, it's just... you know, we've gotten to know you pretty well, and honestly, you're a great participant, it's just... We lost our KaibaCorp funding, since we've been just under the quota for the past couple years for people signing up, and the new company that offered to sponsor us made this the only stipulation. Sorry, the shop's owner made the decision, I wouldn't have tossed you away over this--"
Shark had stopped listening after a bit: "the only stipulation", he said. He'd already known it had to be targeted, but it was palatable proof that he was being attacked for something he didn't understand.
"Listen, whatever the case is, it's done, right? You guys made the right choice. I'm not worth this store keeping business going." He tried to relax his hand, steadying himself. "But can you tell me the exact terms of what this "stipulation" is, before I walk away?"
The young man at the register, seeing no harm in it (and having not been told to keep quiet otherwise) saw no reason to reject who had been otherwise a valued regular, and pulled out the paper from behind the counter, flipping through it.
"Uh, let's see... Here we go. I can't officially say who's sponsoring us now according to the restrictions set, but I can verbally tell you how they're wording this. 'The one named Kamishiro, Ryoga, also known as 'Shark', also known as 'Benetnash', sometimes shorted as "Nash", is not allowed to participate in any officially endorsed tournament, and forfeits all current claims to standings in our store's rankings. Any attempt to force or deceive to join any official tournament hosted by this store should be met with a permanent ban from the premises, and further action should involve notifying the police of trespassing.'
That help at all?" Even the young man had to wince at how harsh the wording was, expecting Shark to be angry.
But Shark had already turned around, waving his hand.
"Thanks. That helped out more than anything else ever could.
I'll try to stay out of here until I resolve this, so don't worry about 'notifying the police' about it."
Shark was already halfway out the door before the young man could get out a "Uh... no problem, then..."
And it wasn't until a block or two away that Shark turned down an alleyway...
And then punched at a trash bin, freaking out several cats who had been hiding around, but also leaving a noticeable dent, powered in part by barely kept-in-check psychic abilities leaking out just by anger alone.
"Benetnash." Shark said, spitting it out like a curse, shaking his hand from the sting resulting from the punch, his knuckles split a little from the cold and the force of impact. "That stupid submarine school is going to be the end of me, I swear."

I am going to hunt down and destroy everyone, minus Rio, who went to Umiirukademia at the same time as me, and nothing is going to stop me.
